Community Redevelopment
Planning permission secured for phase 1 of the restoration of a disused quarry site to provide new uses for the benefit of the Backwell community. The proposals include:
Provision of a new car park and pedestrian access to serve Backwell Junior School will allow the safe drop off and pick up of children from the school.
Demolition of the existing dry pack plant buildings and construction of new B1/B8 employment units.
The upper quarry and surrounding woodland, including Backwell Cave, will be given to Backwell Environment Trust for them to manage as a wildlife habitat and nature reserve, protecting this part of Backwell against future development.
